The Uukes had a good time on July 14, meeting at Melva’s and preparing for the July 17 service.
The Uukes played at this service. Here’s the order of service and music. (All .pdf files.)
So simple, not going to bother with a PDF:
[G] Happy Birthday to [D]you,
happy birthday to [G]you,
happy [G7] birthday to who [C] ever,
happy [G] birthday [D7] to [G] you.
The Uukes played “You are my Sunshine” as the postlude at this Sunday’s service.
From Steve:
Better chords to Sixteen Tons than what we have in the Daily Ukulele book (in
my opinion) can be found here: http://bettylou.zzruss.com/sixteentons.htm.
Strum it and see if you agree.
Here’s ol’ Tennesse Ernie himself singing the original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Joo90ZWrUkU.
There are tons of ukulele versions on You Tube, and I think everyone who plays it uses a different set of chords! – http://www.youtube.com/results?

From Steve:
We should sing this one whenever we’re at Melva’s, to invoke Arthur’s spirit.
Here it is in C: Ukulele_Song_C (pdf)
And here in D: Ukulele_Song_D (pdf)
I find the “C” version slightly easier (the “D” version has a Bdim chord
that’s hard to get into quickly), but both are pretty simple. The one part I
haven’t quite figured out is where a slide up the neck is indicated. It can be
played without it, but it would probably sound more Hawaiian with it. Maybe
Danny can do that part for us!
